Within this journal series, you'll explore comforting nourishment tips, practical organization inspiration, and more, to ease you into 2024. Our hope is that it transports you into the world of slow living and inspires you to implement these ways not just in the new year, but in your day to day practices as well.
With that, we introduce the first part of this series, featuring Taylor Kitto. Taylor is an integrative nutrition health coach who runs Whole Nourish. We asked her all about natural living and her current favourite recipe.

Firstly, we’d love to learn about who you are!
My name is Taylor Kitto, I am a holistic nutritionist and mother to a 2-year-old boy named Rowan. I live on the central coast of California with my husband, son, dog, four chickens and a bunny. You can find me on Instagram where I share bits of my life, and also on my substack where I share nourishing plant-focused recipes and wellness ideas.
What drew you to explore intentional nourishment and natural living?
It’s something I have always been interested in — and the older I get, the more I find the value in living intentionally. To me that means being in a flow with the rhythms of nature, honoring the seasons, and eating whole, nourishing food with joy.
As we prepare to head into a new year, what steps are you taking for a less-chaotic end of year and a smooth transition into 2024?
Saying no to obligations, taking it slow, and trying to savor every holiday moment with family and friends.
For a beginner that is delving into the natural living and wellness world, what are your tips for not getting overwhelmed with all the information offered out there?
Start small. Start noticing what lights you up — find a favorite herbal tea, take a walk in nature, drink more water, and find books, podcasts, and accounts that spark interest.
What seasonal foods are you looking forward to incorporating into your meals in January? Any simple recipe you can share with us and our readers?
Contrary to popular diet culture fads, January should not be about restriction! It can be a lovely time to reevaluate what wellness means to you, set some simple goals and add IN an abundance of nourishing foods.
I make a lot of soup this time of year, and my substack is full of yummy, simple recipes! This Fennel, Chickpea and Kale Soup is a current favorite.
We noticed that you enjoy incorporating slow fashion brands into your wardrobe! Tell us why this is important to you alongside a natural living lifestyle.
I truly believe the items you bring into your life hold so much value and set the tone for the rest of your life.
How do your harly jae pieces tie in with your way of mindful living?
I love how comfortable yet beautiful all of harly jae pieces are! I can throw on a blouse and feel put together, which always makes life a bit easier.
